The idea of the Man Cave is nothing new. It is a place for you and the guys to get together and do things guys like to do. It is important that you fully utilize the environment of the Man Cave to create the perfect atmosphere for watching the game, a boxing match, or just sitting back and drinking a few brews. The idea of the outdoor man cave may seem foreign to you because you have not been informed of one of the best ways to utilize the power of a hot tub, the ambiance of outdoors, but still have that man cave you desire. Sitting in the hot tub while doing these things makes it that much more enjoyable.
The spa enclosure is a key to producing an environment for any spa system. We definitely aren't looking for gazebos and rose gardens. What we want is something that says it is pure man. There are many manufactured spa enclosures, but having one built for you will be even better. If you build up the outside walls of the enclosure of glass privacy bricks, and make the flooring surface out of something like diamond steel you will be set. Having something like diamond steel welded in is awesome. You will need to make sure the cave has everything you need to enjoy it.
Placing a television on the wall is an essential of the man cave. You will need a weather resistant television, and you are only limited in size by how you have built your enclosure. It may even be possible to install a HD projector, and have the ultimate outdoor theater. Many brands manufacture weatherproof speakers for outdoors. A few have a line for a home theater outdoors. It is probably best to go to a stereo boutique and ask around for the brands that have a full home theater set that can operate outdoors. You will also need a subwoofer, and again this must work outdoors. The speaker system can be professionally installed by the stereo boutique.
You will also need to have a stereo to power those speakers. This could be a receiver, pre-amp/power-amp combo, but it needs to be 5.1 channels to take advantage of the full home theater experience. You have a few choices with what to do with the stereo. You can purchase a weatherproof rack and mount the equipment outside in the spa enclosure. If you would rather keep the system inside it is possible to buy either an RF remote or install a IR relay system. There are smart remotes that can allow you to do this with ease. This will require that the equipment you buy is rack mountable. If you want the ultimate shop at a stereo boutique and look for a 5 channel power amp with a home theater preamp. You want only the best for you stereo. The stereo and TV say a lot about what kind of person you are, so shop wisely.
Another great addition to the man cave is to install a way to get to the beer. You might just install a refrigerator outside in the spa enclosure. This would be alright, especially if you keep everyone's favorite beer stocked. You could get a mini-keg cooling and dispensing system. These systems are relatively inexpensive, and will keep beer clod and ready to pour off the tap. Installing a whole keg system with a tap overhanging the hot tub would be great. Just make sure you can go through a keg with the guys. You may want to use plastic cups outdoors in the water, just so there is no broken glass for bare feet. Remember the beer is important, treat it as such.
The best thing about this is doing it all outdoors. Being away outside in the hot tub removes you from the environment of the house, and can provide hours of relaxation. Even if you are alone it is much better to sit in a hot bubbling water getting a massage than sitting in your living room, especially if it is outfit properly. The ultimate hot tub will set you apart from anyone of your friends that tries to out-do you with another outdoor man cave. Of course if you install the recommended spa enclosure, add a projector with screen, a pre-amp/power-amp combo, and throw in for beer on tap no one can really beat you. Man caves come in many styles, but from this article you should realize the basics in constructing an outdoor man cave, centered around a hot tub. |
